Chinese new year is here once again. Yet this year's one slightly differently for me. At this time I still awake although I am sick. Had been sniffing and sneezing for the past few hours already. Err it's 5:35am on the last day of the lunar year. Can't sleep still. Yup, sick when Chinese new year is about here. Very timely, lol. And tomorrow I will surely be forced to see a doctor. Haha. I still have some last minute shopping to do, hopefully I will be able get enough clothes for the 2 or 3 days of visiting. But I don't have to rush to cut my hair this year. The reason is simply because =D. And for the first time, my irritating sister will not be in Singapore to go visiting with us. She will be flying right after our reunion dinner, to work. But that doesn't mean my angbao will double, my mum will just receive on her behalf I guess. Happy mummy so old already still receive ang bao although not hers =x. Me and my sister will always compare the amount of money we receive from our ang baos after each day's visit, and mine will always be slightly higher than hers. I don't know the reason why too. Haha.

Chinese new year to me a period of time where you get to meet up with all your family members, relatives. We seldom see each other through the year. Ya, and there will be this standard procedure of relatives questioning about you, and you have to entertain them for that unknown amount of money in the red packet. Lol, sounds bad to put it that way. And of course, to some of us, it's a few days of legal gambling den in operation. Lol.

Where capital = Ang pao money.

Lol. Oh and for me, this gambling act is usually done on the 2nd day of the new year, at my uncle's house. First day will be reunion lunch at my granny's house, that's when everyone from my mother side family will come together. Second day will be at my uncle's house, where my father side is 'carried out'. After the short visiting on the second day, we will usually go to the River Ang Bao, somewhere near marina? And that's when parking is really headache. You can anyhow park because there is this 'unseen' leniency for parking, maybe because there are only malay and indian traffic polices around, but the problem is, everyone parks anyhow, and yet, there is no space. Lol. Have to wait sometime for the parking lot depending on your luck, and of course, your parking skills. Good parking skills gives you better chances to get it fast, lousy skills means wait till there's no one eyeing that lot too. For me, snatching a parking lot is not a problem. (:


In summary Chinese new year to me is,


Reunion dinner.

Pineapple tarts, love letters, ba kua, mandarin oranges.

Ang baos, family, relatives, nice clothes.

Gambling, River Ang bao-ing.
